Today’s Mortgage Market Requires Strong Strategy and Flawless Execution.
The mortgage marketplace is tough right now. A recent report from Fannie Mae's Q2 2018 Lender Sentiment Survey indicate profit margins are shrinking. Each day Operators are forced to make tougher decisions than the last.

”Fannie Mae results from second quarter, #Mortgage #Lender #survey ... “cost cutting" jumped from the second least important priority in 2017 to the third most important priority in 2018. Profits declined to 10 basis points in the first quarter of 2017 until, finally this past quarter, the industry took a loss of 8 basis points per loan, the first loss in four years.”
Many Options, All Tough Decisions...
Mortgage operators have many options to address current market conditions. Giving up margin to lower price is one option. Reducing the pool of loan officer assistants on the payroll is another. Removing lower performing loan officers and/or cutting off low performing branches is a possibility. These are tough, but very important decisions. At the same time customers are increasingly requiring enhanced digital experiences. Should an investment be made to buy the newest shiny digital platform? Mortgage lenders are in an impossible place, making the setting of a winning strategy more important then ever and flawless execution of that strategy even more important. Sadly, most leaders at small to mid-sized organizations do not have the time, or the resources, to deliver on this.

Traits of a high performing business
High performing businesses follow some version of long-term (3-5 year) planning followed by a disciplined approach to executing on that strategy. Large-scale businesses have entire teams focused on growth, cost cutting and executional efforts. Smaller business typically don’t have the resources dedicated to strategy and delivery. Meanwhile, due to their size, they are typically engrossed in running the day to day of the business.
This is where business consultants, such as Organizational Compass, provide an objective approach and proven frameworks that can help teams deliver strong results, at a very reasonable cost.
